A 7-year-old girl was wounded in an accidental shooting Sunday afternoon in the Calumet Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side, Chicago Police said.

Just after 3 p.m., the girl was inside a home in the 9100 block of South Blackstone when the “accidental discharge” happened, police said.

The girl was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where her condition stabilized, police said.

Officers recovered a handgun from the home, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating and the Department of Children and Family Services has been notified of the incident, police said.
