A missing northwest Indiana boy was found dead Wednesday afternoon in Gary, and his death has been ruled a homicide.

About 12:40 p.m., officers responded to a call of a person down in the 7700 block of West 9th Avenue in Gary, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield.

They found 17-year-old Dylan Morgan in the weeds with no apparent signs of life, according to Westerfield and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Morgan had been reported missing from his hometown of Hammond, Indiana on Dec. 6, according to Westerfield.

Morgan’s death was ruled a homicide, but the nature of his wound was not revealed pending further studies, the coroner’s office said.
