A 62-year-old man died over the weekend of head injuries suffered in a University Village fight nearly two weeks earlier on the Near West Side.

Robert Crenshaw was socializing with a group of men in the 1500 block of West Hastings about 1:45 p.m. Feb. 28 when he got into an argument with one of them, according to Chicago Police.

Crenshaw was punched in the face, fell back, and hit his head on the sidewalk, police said. The man who punched him then ran away.

Crenshaw was found unresponsive on the ground with swelling and a deep cut to the head, and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, authorities said. He lived in the neighborhood where the fight happened.

An autopsy Tuesday found that he died of complications of blunt force head trauma during an assault, and ruled his death a homicide.

No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated.
