A woman was fatally struck by a Union Pacific/Northwest line Metra train Thursday afternoon in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.

Emergency responders were called about 4:52 p.m. after outbound train No. 627 struck Mary A. Golembiewski, of Woodstock, on the east end of the train station at 13 E. Northwest Highway, according to the Mount Prospect Police and Fire departments.

Golembiewski disobeyed lights and gates and walked into the path of the train, police said.

An autopsy on Friday ruled her death a suicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
