A man killed in a crash that left three other people injured Sunday morning in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side has been identified.
Richard Massenburg, 52, was speeding near Cicero and Wellington at 9:53 a.m. when his vehicle struck a second vehicle, causing that one to strike three others, according to Chicago Police.
Javier Castregon, 38, was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:51 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the same neighborhood.
A 39-year-old woman was also taken to Illinois Masonic; and two other women, ages 27 and 77, were taken to Community First Medical Center, police said. Their conditions were stabilized.
Massenburg, of the West Side Austin neighborhood, was cited for failure to reduce speed, two counts of DUI any amount of drug, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle, police said. He is scheduled to appear in traffic court on Aug. 4.
