A 30-year-old woman was shot to death Monday afternoon in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

She was a passenger in a dark-colored vehicle at 4:39 p.m. in the 7800 block of South Kimbark when a male, who was also inside the vehicle, fired shots, striking her, according to Chicago Police.

The woman ran from the vehicle and the male then shot her several more times, police said.

She suffered gunshot wounds to the head and face and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released information on the fatality.
