A woman was hit and killed by a truck Thursday afternoon in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Ligia Acosta, 69, was walking at 4:28 p.m. in the 2100 block of North Kimball when she was hit by a northbound 2003 Ford truck, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A witness performed first aid until paramedics arrived, at which point she was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, authorities said. Acosta, who lived in Logan Square, was pronounced dead at 4:38 p.m.

An autopsy Friday found she died of multiple injuries from a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian and her death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The 26-year-old woman driving the truck was cited for failure to exercise due care for a pedestrian in the roadway and was scheduled to appear in traffic court on Nov. 11.
