A man was shot inside a CTA Red Line train early Saturday near the Cermak-Chinatown station.
At 12:14 a.m., the 38-year-old was wounded as the train pulled into the stop near the 100 block of West Cermak, according to Chicago police.
He had gotten into a fight with another rider, a 24-year-old man who shot him in the abdomen, police said.
The older man took the gun away from the shooter and “battered” him, according to police, who said the men knew each other prior to the fight.
Graphic videos circulating on social media later in the day showed a man nursing a wound and pistol-whipping another man aboard a Red Line train.
The 38-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital and the 24-year-old to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, both in serious condition.
No charges had been filed as of Saturday night.
Red Line service was suspended for almost four hours between the Roosevelt and 35th Street stations as authorities investigated.
