A man died after shooting himself in the head Monday afternoon in the South Side Englewood neighborhood.

About 2:40 p.m., the 20-year-old suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head in the 5600 block of South Green, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died at 8:25 p.m., authorities said. He was from the Far South Side West Pullman neighborhood.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday confirmed he died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
