A man was shot Thursday afternoon in East Garfield Park.

The 18-year-old was walking about 1:20 p.m. in the 3900 block of West Madison Street when someone fired shots and he was struck in the head, according to Chicago police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating.
