The Kane County sheriff’s office is investigating after a man was killed in a crash May 27 in unincorporated Blackberry Township.

A man was killed in a crash Monday near west suburban Elburn.

Scott C. Doyens, 54, was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta west on Main Street about 1:10 a.m. when the car went off the road west of Illinois Route 47 in unincorporated Blackberry Township, according to a statement from the Kane County sheriff’s office.

The Jetta hit a tree and rolled over, the sheriff’s office said. Doyens, who was the only person inside, was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he was pronounced dead. He lived in Hinckley.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
