Hundreds gather in front of the Merchandise Mart on Chicago’s Riverwalk to watch Thursday night’s kickoff of “Art on the Mart” with a special “Nutcracker”-themed presentation from Joffrey Ballet.

The projected light show, which can be seen on Wacker Drive between Wells and Franklin streets, runs through Dec. 30 nightly at 7 and 7:30 p.m.
