A driver is in custody after allegedly fatally striking a man Thursday in Englewood on the South Side and trying to flee from the crash.

The driver was making a turn about 3:50 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Damen Avenue when he struck a 67-year-old man who was in the crosswalk, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Autopsy results released Friday confirmed he died of multiple injuries from the crash and ruled his death an accident, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was identified as Raymond Glenn.

The driver did not stop after the collision but was later pulled over by officers and was taken into custody, police said.

CPD’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
