A body was pulled from Lake Michigan near Grant Park Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses alerted police around 5 p.m. in the 500 block of South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago police said.

David Clippard, 38, was retrieved from the water by Marine Unit personnel and pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in West Englewood.

Area Three detectives were investigating.
