Less than 12 hours removed from the Bears’ first preseason game, Jay Cutler has already been the butt of nasty comments from Stephen A. Smith and Cris Carter on ESPN.

Carter, the former Vikings wide receiver, appeared on ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike” on Friday morning and claimed only Jesus can resurrect Cutler’s career.

The comment came during a Q&A session at the end of the show, when listener “Josh” asked: Will John Fox resurrect Jay Cutler’s career?

“No, stop. No one can ressurect-,” Carter said before correcting himself. “Jesus. Jay Cutler needs Jesus.”

A short time later Smith appeared on ESPN’s First Take and called Cutler a horrible, pathetic and leaderless quarterback who should be arrested for theft because of the way he rips off the Bears.

Cutler went 4 for 7 for 42 yards against the Dolphins in Thursday’s preseason opener. He led two series, and the Bears went three-and-out in the first.

Cutler still hasn’t thrown an interception since reporting, though.
