Jon Stewart cannot believe Mayor Rahm Emanuel won Tuesday’s mayoral runoff against Jesus “Chuy” Garcia.

It didn’t take long for Stewart to jump right in to the issues affecting the city during his “The Midwest Wing” segment on Wednesday night’s show.

“Back in the day, Chicago was a seedy hotbed of violence, financial ruin, blatant crimes against humanity,” Stewart said as a shot of deep dish pizza was shown. “And by back in the day, I mean 2011.”

Stewart then points out the “Chicago of today,” which includes a $2 billion deficit.

“Things are looking up,” Stewart said. “And by things I mean the amount of money they don’t have — and crime.”

Stewart then questions how sitting a mayor with a “terrible record” and a “universally recognized abrasive personality” defeat this country’s “fourth most-famous Chuy”?

With his campaign ads, of course.

“Chicago, congratulations, you Rolling Stoned that s—,” Stewart said. “The report is in on everything you have done wrong, and we feel that that report is punishment enough.”
