More than three months after the coronavirus gripped Illinois and the economy was shut down with Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order, the state will take another step toward normalcy Friday as it enters Phase 4 of the governor’s reopening plan.
That means you’ll be able to hit the gym, grab a bite inside your favorite restaurant and maybe even catch a ballgame. Just don’t forget your mask — and keep that social distance.
Odds are it’ll be the way of life for awhile. Illinois isn’t expected to fully reopen until a COVID-19 vaccine or an effective treatment is available.
Here’s a quick look at what returns with Phase 4:
• Gatherings of up to 50 people, including weddings, funerals and business conferences.
• Recreation (50% capacity, up to 50 people), including bowling alleys, skating rinks and clubhouses.
• Indoor dining (groups of 10 or fewer, spaced tables, 25% capacity for standing areas).
• Museums (25% capacity, no interactive exhibits, tours capped at 50 people).
• Zoos (25% capacity, no interactive/indoor exhibits, tours capped at 50 people).
• Movie theaters and performing arts centers (25% capacity in Chicago, 50% elsewhere; both up to 50 people).
• Outdoor spectator sports (20% capacity; not yet approved in Chicago).
• Film production (50% capacity, up to 50 people).
• Youth sports (50% facility capacity, 20% seating capacity).
• Health and fitness centers (25% capacity in Chicago, 50% elsewhere; classes up to 50 people).
• Day camps (50% facility capacity, groups capped at 15).
