1 killed, 2 wounded Wednesday in Chicago shootings

A man was killed and two other people were wounded Wednesday in shootings across Chicago.

The day’s fatal shooting happened in North Lawndale on the West Side.

Devon Taylor, 20, was on the sidewalk about 4:55 p.m. in the 1500 block of South St. Louis Avenue when someone opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He was hit in the back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Later in the evening, a 16-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting in Garfield Park on the West Side.

He was on a sidewalk about 9:24 p.m. in the 4100 block of West Adams Street when someone unleashed gunfire, police said.

The teen was hit in the shoulder and took himself to Rush University Medical Center, police said. His condition was stabilized.

In Wednesday’s first reported shooting, a 28-year-old man was wounded in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

He was in the 7000 block of South Stony Island Avenue about 11:30 a.m. when he heard gunfire and realized he was shot in the abdomen, police said.

He ran to the 1400 block of East 69th Street, where he collapsed, police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center. His condition had stabilized.

No arrests have been reported in any of the day’s shootings.

Eleven people were shot Tuesday in Chicago.
