A man has been charged with fatally shooting a man during an argument last week in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.
Wesley Wright, 29, was allegedly arguing with Anthony Allen about 9:05 pm. on Sept. 11 in the 7500 block of South Evans when he pulled out a handgun and shot him in the face, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Allen, 30, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died days later on Friday afternoon, the medical examiner’s office said.
Wright was arrested the day of the shooting and charged with attempted murder, felony aggravated battery with a firearm, three counts of drug possession, possession of ammunition without a FOID card, a count of unauthorized use of a weapon and a city charge of possession of a high capacity magazine and metal piercing bullets, police said.
A police spokesman declined to comment if charges would be upgraded.
