Man fatally shot in Englewood

James Wilcox was standing outside a home Tuesday in the 7300 block of South Stewart Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

A 27-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday evening in Englewood on the South Side.

About 5:15 p.m., he was standing outside a home in the 7300 block of South Stewart Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Chicago police said.

James Wilcox was struck multiple times in the body, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Police said he died at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

No one is in custody as detectives conduct a homicide investigation.
