SAN FRANCISCO — The World Series ring that Ben Zobrist won with the Cubs in 2016, when he was the series MVP, will be auctioned by Heritage Auctions in August, the company announced Friday on Twitter.

No other details about the auction or why the ring is being sold were available on the auction house’s website.

Zobrist was one of the Cubs’ heroes in that series, hitting a tiebreaking double in the 10th inning of the 8-7 victory over the Indians in Game 7. The utilityman also won the 2015 World Series with the Royals.

Zobrist played 461 games with the Cubs from 2016 to ’19, slashing .269/.362/.411 with 40 homers and 201 RBI. He also was a National League All-Star starter in 2016.
