Después de dos años de eventos transmitidos virtualmente y a escala reducida, cientos se reunieron en Pilsen el Viernes Santo para el Vía Crucis anual número 45.

La procesión hace recreación del antes, durante y después de la crucifixión de Jesús. Comenzó alrededor de las 9 a.m. en la Parroquia Providencia de Dios, 717 W. 18th St. y lentamente llegó a Harrison Park, donde se representaría la crucifixión el viernes por la tarde.

El evento, una tradición del Viernes Santo para iniciar el fin de semana de Pascua, terminará con una oración de clausura en la Parroquia de San Adalberto, 1650 W. 17th St.

El Vía Crucis —la procesión más antigua del Medio Oeste, según los organizadores— se canceló en 2020 debido a la pandemia de coronavirus. En 2021, el evento se redujo en gran medida y aquellos que no pudieron estar ahí en vivo, pudieron verlo virtualmente.
