(WOODSTOCK) A female was fatally struck by a Metra train Thursday morning near northwest suburban Woodstock.

The female was struck by an eastbound train in the 3400 block of Deep Cut Road in Woodstock about 9:45 a.m., according to the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

Witnesses told police that the female jumped in front of the train, according to the statement.

The McHenry County coroner’s office confirmed the fatality, but the victim’s name was not released pending notification of family.

Inbound Train 640 was involved in the accident and did not continue past Woodstock, according to a Metra alert.

Train 619, which was scheduled to arrive in Harvard at 3:20 p.m., is running about 30 minutes behind schedule because of the crash.

Authorities said no foul play is suspected, but the investigation is ongoing.
