Two Illinois Prisoner Review Board members are off the parole board following a state investigation, the governor’s office said late Friday.
Gov. Bruce Rauner removed Eric Gregg, a former Harrisburg mayor, from the full-time post after determining that he filed a “false bankruptcy filing” and a false statement of economic interest form with the state, according to a state document.
Gregg did not respond to a request for comment.
And member Adam Monreal resigned, the governor’s office said.
The former Cook County prosecutor was under investigation, the office said.
A Belleville News-Democrat investigation revealed officials were looking into Monreal’s bankruptcy and his financial reporting.
In his bankruptcy filing, he declared he earned less than $40,000 in 2011 while earning more than $90,000 from the state that year, the newspaper reported.
Monreal declined to comment, saying only: “I am in communication with the governor’s administration.”
The Belleville newspaper also revealed the investigation into Gregg’s bankruptcy, where he reported he earned more than what he was paid as a member of the parole board.
Illinois law prohibits the 15 parole board members, who are also provided use of state cars, from receiving outside income.
