One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in Chatham on the South Side.

Witnesses heard gunshots about 12:55 p.m. and found 36-year-old Darius Norris and a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds in an alley off the 7900 block of South Langley, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Both men were taken to University of Chicago Medical Center.

Norris, who lived in Park Manor, was shot in the left thigh and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 9:45 p.m., authorities said.

The younger man was also shot in the left thigh and was stabilized at the hospital, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating.
