A man was beaten to death early Saturday in the West Town neighborhood.
At 2:31 a.m., 32-year-old Michael John Ruby was fighting with a male he knew inside a first-floor apartment in the 2300 block of West Augusta Boulevard, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. During the brawl, the male punched Ruby several times in his left eye, knocking him to the ground.
Ruby, who lived in Palos Heights, was rushed to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later, authorities said.
An autopsy Sunday found he died from injuries to his skull and brain that he suffered during the assault, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.
Area Central detectives are investigating the killing. No one has been arrested in connection with the attack, police said.
