A man was shot Sunday night in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

About 9:30 p.m., the 22-year-old heard shots when he was standing on a sidewalk in the 5800 block of South Sangamon Street, Chicago Police said.

He was hit in his right cheek and was taken to University of Illinois Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating the shooting.
