A man was killed and at least 14 other people were wounded in shootings across Chicago between Friday afternoon and Sunday night.

The homicide happened during a Friday night fight in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood on the South Side.

Wavey Brown, 44, was arguing with another male in an alley in the 5000 block of South Calumet Avenue at 9:30 p.m. when the male pulled out a gun and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Brown, who lived in the 300 block of Washington Street in Waukegan, suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:18 p.m., authorities said.

The latest nonfatal shooting happened late Sunday in the Norwood Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

A 23-year-old man was standing outside about 11:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of North Elston when someone walked up and fired shots, police said. He suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken in good condition to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Earlier Sunday night, a 31-year-old man was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. He was fighting with someone about 9 p.m. in a business in the 700 block of North Cicero, police said. The fight spilled outside, and the other person pulled out a gun and shot him twice in the right leg. He took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is listed in good condition.

Earlier in the evening, an 18-year-old man was shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side. He was walking at 6:29 p.m. on the sidewalk in the 200 block of West 110th Place when he was shot in the left thigh, police said. He managed to walk half a block to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A 21-year-old man was wounded early Sunday in an East Garfield Park shooting on the West Side. He was getting into a vehicle about 3:20 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Van Buren when someone opened fire from a passing tan car, striking him in the left thigh. A friend drove him to Rush University Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

About 20 minutes earlier, a 26-year-old man was shot in the arm while walking in the 100 block of East 11th Street in the South Loop. His condition was stabilized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

At least nine others were wounded in shootings between 4 p.m. Friday and 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
