Five ridiculous things said about the border crisis

Lots of people have things to say about the border crisis. Sometimes though, they would have been better off not saying anything at all.

Here’s a look at five ridiculous things people have said:

1. ‘Pop a couple of them off and leave the corpses laying on the border’

A Ku Klux Klan group in North Carolina thinks it has it all figured out.

2. Medical experiments on kids?

Michele Bachmann talked about a plan to put undocumented children into the foster care system.

And hinted that they’d be used as guinea pigs.

“That’s more kids that you can see how — we can’t imagine doing this, but if you have a hospital and they are going to get millions of dollars in government grants if they can conduct medical research on somebody, and a ward of the state can’t say ‘no’ — a little kid can’t say ‘no’ if they’re a ward of the state — so here you could have this institution getting millions of dollars from our government to do medical experimentation and a kid can’t even say ‘no.’ It’s sick.”

3. GOP congressman: Ebola could spread across the border

GOP Rep. Phil Gingrey says they could be bringing a deadly epidemic. And Rep. Todd Rokita (R-Ind.) came out Monday sharing that view.

But according to the CDC, all human cases have been in Africa. Not a single case has been reported in the Western Hemisphere.

4. No, those aren’t migrant children

While appearing at an immigration protest, Arizona Republican congressional candidate Adam Kwasman tweeted about a bus, which he later said was loaded with migrant children.

“I was actually able to see some of the children in the buses,” he said. “The fear on their faces…. This is not compassion.”

The only problem?

The bus was filled with YMCA campers.

5. Rep. Steve King’s ‘good at English moment’

Monday night during a fundraiser in Iowa, Erika Andiola, a member of the Dream Action Coalition, confronted Rep. Steve King (R-IA) and his comments about undocumented immigrants smuggling drugs across the border.

His response, as he grabbed Andiola’s wrist?

“Stop a minute,” King said. “You’re very good at English. You know what I’m saying.”

While we’re at it, Jon Stewart took a crack at it Monday night on “The Daily Show.”

“Why not have some fun with this?” he said. “Minors must be deported via circus cannon, or replace the border fence with a ‘Wipeout’ course and if you get through, eh, you’re in! Dress the border patrol up as Mounties so they think they’ve come here and gone too far and turn back around!”
