A young girl who was found alone in a Prospect Heights forest preserve Tuesday evening has been identified by her family.

The 3-year-old, whose first name is Aliya, was found by a passerby about 6:30 p.m. near Milwaukee Avenue and Palatine Road, according to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office. She was positively identified by family late Tuesday night.

She was placed with a family member while sheriff’s police and DCFS investigate, according to the sheriff’s office.
