Fans must use metal detectors at Soldier Field, starting Saturday

Fans will be required to enter through metal detectors at all Bears games at Soldier Field, starting with Saturday’s Family Fest, the team said Friday. All carry-on bags will be inspected, too.

Attendees will be asked to place large items on a table next to the metal detector before walking through; if anything is detected, security guards will ask fans to go through the machine again, or they will use a wand.

The Bears will continue to abide by the NFL’s bag policy, which allows only the following: a clear bag that does not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches; a one-gallon freezer bag, and a small clutch bag, roughly the size of a hand.
