Chicago police are questioning a person of interest after a man was fatally shot during an argument Thursday in Fernwood on the South Side.
The 47-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to his head and abdomen just before midnight on a sidewalk in the 500 block of West 105th Street, Chicago police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as being Amando Shipp, who lived in West Pullman.
A witness told investigators they heard arguing outside before hearing gunshots, police said.
A suspect drove off in a red SUV and struck a police squad car, but was arrested nearby, police said.
An autopsy confirmed Shipp died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.
