A man was shot and critically wounded early Tuesday in the Lathrop Homes neighborhood on the North Side.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot about 12:55 a.m. found the 24-year-old in a backyard in the 2700 block of North Hoyne, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, left arm, abdomen and groin, police said. He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
