Woman, man shot in Gary

A woman and a man were shot Wednesday afternoon in northwest Indiana.

The victims, both 45, were shot at 5:14 p.m. in the 1900 block of Delaware Street, according to a statement from Gary police.

The man was shot in the chest and the woman in the leg, police said. They were both taken to a hospital and their conditions were stabilized, police said.

Additional information was not immediately available Wednesday evening.
