GURNEE — The Class AA Girls Golf Warren Sectional was suspended due to heavy rain on Monday afternoon. The event is scheduled to continue at noon on Tuesday at Bittersweet Golf Club, with players resuming where they left off.

Many sectional qualifiers will return on Tuesday. All of the event’s individuals have yet to finish their rounds — some have more than seven holes to play — and four teams still have to finish.

New Trier isn’t one of those teams, however. The Trevians shot a 323 on a course that played difficult as players had to fight through extremely wet conditions before play was suspended.

New Trier senior Lois Suh led the Trevians with a 79. Junior Louise McCulloch shot an 80, and seniors Becca Lindblad and Lauren Holly both shot 82s.

New Trier coach Scott Fricke said the Trevians won’t return to Bittersweet on Tuesday because they’re confident they’ll at least finish in third place and earn a team berth to the Class AA state tournament.
