(ELGIN) A fire tore through two garages and spread to several other structures in northwest suburban Elgin on Sunday afternoon, causing about $50,000 worth of damage.

Crews responded at 12:02 p.m. to the 400 block of Morgan Street where two detached garages were on fire, one of them fully involved, according to a statement from the Elgin Fire Department.

One of the garages collapsed, and the fire spread to a third one nearby as well as the exteriors of two homes and a fence, officials said.

Firefighters put out the blaze by 12:39 p.m. No one was hurt, officials said. Damage to the structures was valued at $50,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
