(AURORA) Burglars crashed a stolen minivan into a high-end shop in west suburban Aurora Tuesday morning, making off with more than $40,000 worth of merchandise and causing more than $20,000 in damage, police said.

The burglary occurred about 4:30 a.m. at the Salvatore Ferragamo in the Chicago Premium Outlets Mall, located at 1650 Premium Outlet Boulevard, according to a statement from Aurora police.

After the store’s alarm went off, responding officers found a Dodge Grand Caravan with heavy front end damage, police said. The van’s doors were open and several purses were laying in and around the van.

As additional officers arrived, it was discovered that the front entrance had been smashed and tire tracks could be seen leading inside, police said.

At least four people were inside the van, which was stolen from Chicago, police said.
