(HAMMOND, Ind.) A 29-year-old man was beaten to death Wednesday morning at his home in northwest Indiana.

Robert K. Swafford Sr. was pronounced dead at his home in the 1500 block of 177th Place in Hammond at 8:52 a.m., according to a statement from the Lake County (Ind.) coroner’s office.

Swafford suffered blunt force trauma and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the coroner’s office.

Hammond police are investigating.
