Police look for possible victims of child porn suspect who lived in home daycare

(WOODSTOCK) A northwest suburban man is facing child pornography charges for downloading Internet images of children at a daycare run by his parents, according to police.

Officials are reviewing the images to see if any of the children at the daycare may have been victims, but so far do not believe they were.

Michael L. Chaparro, 26, of McHenry faces four Class 2 felony counts of child pornography, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

The investigation started when the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police identified a customer’s IP address that was downloading child pornography at 4515 W. Ramble Rd. in McHenry, according to police.

After the Internet service provided the address in response to a subpoena, the sheriff’s office learned it was a state-licensed home daycare facility run by Eva Chaparro and Hector Chaparro, police said.

A search warrant was executed at the home about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, and child pornography was found on Michael Chaparro’s computer, according to the statement. Police said he lived at the home with his parents.

Chaparro was ordered held on a $50,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court Friday in Woodstock, according to the sheriff’s office.

When police learned that about 10 children were enrolled in the daycare, DCFS was contacted and set up a “safety plan” for the facility, which stipulates that Chaparro cannot be in the home when children are present.

“We are still reviewing the digital media we took during the search warrant,” Lt. James Popovits said in an email.

“The original charges are not from pictures that depict the children from the daycare. We are asking the parents to talk to their children and if they believe they have been victimized to call the Sheriff’s office.”
