Top 5 Teams To Watch

1. Kaneland: Knights should be a major factor in Class 2A state finals behind superlative relays and consistent production in the six field events. Knights are the defending 3,200 relay champions and runner-up in 1,600 relay.

2. Waubonsie Valley: Warriors will battle Neuqua Valley for Upstate Eight Conference supremacy behind triple-jump state contender James Travis, thrower John Harris, sprinter Tony Durns and hurdler Tyler Kirkwood.

3. Geneva: Vikings’ collective strength is ability to double-score at major meets in multiple events. Sprinter Tim Roels is the unquestioned senior leader.

4. Marmion: Cadets are once again prohibitive favorites to defend Suburban Christian Conference championship behind All-State 800 runner Kevin Grahovec and long sprinter Tyler Maryanski.

5. Batavia: Bulldogs enter season with high expectations after a promising indoor campaign. Batavia has depth across the board, especially in 1,600 with Chris Orlow and Ryan Wieties.
