Host Grayslake North tuned up for next week’s huge Fox Valley Conference Fox Division showdown at Crystal Lake Central by beating Woodstock 42-21 on Friday night.

Knights senior quarterback A.J. Fish had another huge night running and passing the ball, as he keyed the victory.

Fish rushed 21 times for 205 yards and three touchdowns, and completed 13-of-22 passes for 155 yards and two scores with no interceptions.

Grayslake North (5-1) led 21-7 at halftime and was up 21-14 midway through the third quarter after Woodstock’s Nick Rogers his second short TD of the game.

But Fish answered by rushing 32 yards for a score to make it 28-14. He added a 7-yard score early in the fourth quarter to make it 35-14.

Titus Booker, a sophomore running back, carried 21 times for 155 yards for North, which piled up more than 500 yards of offense.

Grayslake North needs one more victory to qualify for the playoff for the first time in school history.

Despite the big offensive output, Knights coach Steve Wood was not happy with a performance that probably won’t be good enough against Crystal Lake Central.

“We missed some plays on offense and on defense, we gave up a first down on a fake punt that led to a touchdown. We can’t do stuff like that and be the team we want to be.

“But, a win is a win and we’ll celebrate that and get ready for next week.”
