(MOKENA) Several eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed early Thursday near Mokena after a semi truck caught fire in the southwest suburb.

Authorities responded about midnight to the semi truck on fire on eastbound I-80 just west of South La Grange Road, according to Illinois State Police Sgt. George Del Rio.

The driver was not injured and was able to disconnect the truck’s trailer before the fire spread, Del Rio said.

As of 5:40 a.m., the right lane of the expressway was still closed to traffic as crews worked to clear the roadway, Del Rio said.
