A man stabbed a woman to death before fatally stabbing himself in their Northwest Side Avondale neighborhood home, autopsies found.

The two were discovered unresponsive in a home in the 2800 block of North Maplewood at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

Gerald A. Watson, 49; and Susan Mangino-Watson, 52, who shared a home on that block, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Wednesday found Susan Mangino-Watson died of multiple sharp-force injuries, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Police said the deaths were domestic-related, but did not provide additional information.
