Cecily Strong just hosted the White House Correspondents Dinner — and now goes from sharing a dais with the Leader of the Free World to sharing a movie with one of the leading stars in Hollywood: Melissa McCarthy.

Strong, who continues as a member of the “Saturday Night Live” team, has been cast in “Michelle Darnell,” the new movie that also stars Kristen Bell, Peter Dinklage and Kathy Bates. McCarthy will play a major industry mogul who is sent to prison for insider trading. When she gets out, she quickly discovers not everyone she hurt is willing to forgive her — despite her best efforts to re-invent herself as America’s newest sweetheart.

Based on an idea by McCarthy, “Michelle Darnell” is being directed by her husband Ben Falcone, who previously helmed her “Tammy” movie. Falcone co-wrote the script with his wife and Steve Mallory — and it is expected to hit theaters in April of next year.
