A man fatally shot Monday afternoon in the Northwest Side Irving Park neighborhood has been identified.

The shooting happened about 2:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of North Hamlin, police said.

Felix Diaz, 29, was sitting passenger in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside got out and fired shots, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Diaz, of the 3300 block of West Belle Plaine, was shot multiple times in the upper torso and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m., authorities said.

A source said the man shot was a documented gang member, and the shooting may have been gang-related.
