A man was found shot to death about a half-mile from his Gary, Ind. home Friday night.

Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Jackson Street at 6:27 p.m for a call of a person down on the street, Gary Police Sgt. Thomas Decanter said.

Eric Duncan, 34, was found shot dead at the scene, according to Decanter and the Lake County coroner’s office. He lived in the 1100 block of Pierce Street.

An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Metro Homicide Unit is handling the case, Decanter said.
