A Chicago man was shot to death Monday afternoon in a parking lot in north suburban Evanston, police said.

Ray Owens, 27, was found in a vehicle in a parking area next to an alley in the 2000 block of Emerson Street, Evanston police said.

Officers responded about 1:45 p.m. after they received multiple 911 calls of shots fired, police said.

Owens, of Chicago, was taken to Evanston Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Evanston police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the shooting, but no one was in custody as of Monday night.
