One man was killed and another injured in a shooting early Monday in north suburban Evanston.

The shooting happened in the 1800 block of Dodge Avenue about 1:20 a.m., according to Evanston police.

Donte Blackwell, 23, of Niles, was shot once in the torso and was taken to Evanston Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, a statement from police said.

A 21-year-old Evanston man was shot in the arm and leg, and was also taken to Evanston Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told investigators two males rode up on bicycles, shot the victims, then rode northbound on Dodge, police said.

CTA No. 93, 205 and 206 buses are rerouted on Dodge between Church and Emerson on Monday morning because of the police activity.
