One or more burglars have broken into stores through the back door to steal goods and take cash from registers, according to a police alert issued late Sunday. The burglaries happened:

— between 2 and 6 a.m. Jan. 23 in the 6500 block of North Clark;

— between 7 p.m. Jan. 21 and 9 a.m. Jan. 22 in the 6600 block of North Clark;

— about 4:30 a.m. Jan. 16 in the 1100 block of West Thorndale;

— between 4 and 8 a.m. Jan. 13 in the 1400 block of West Morse; and

— between 9 p.m. Jan. 8 and 6 a.m. Jan. 9 in the 6900 block of North Sheridan.

In one incident, security camera footage showed a black man with a goatee, standing between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-2, and weighing 180 to 210 pounds, police said. He was wearing a knit hat, a hooded sweatshirt and a heavy hooded jacket.

Anyone with information should call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
