A 76-year-old man who was found shot to death Tuesday afternoon in the Riverdale neighborhood on the Far South Side has been identified.

Officers conducted a well-being check in the 13200 block of South Riverdale about noon and discovered Claude Cannon with gunshot wounds to his chest and buttocks, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:22 p.m., authorities said. Cannon lived in the same block as the shooting.

Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
